A few weeks ago Jacob had some fevers but no other signs of a virus. Dan took him to the Dr and she said it was just probably a virus and to let it run it course.
About 2 weeks ago we found a lump on the side of Jacob's neck so I to took him back to the Dr on Monday 8/25 and she checked the lump out and had Jacob give some blood. The white blood cells came back a little higher than normal so Wednesday she put him on an Antibiotic.
We had almost 3 days left of the antibiotic but, the fevers were back and the side of his neck was getting bigger and more irritated.
So, I took Jacob back to the Dr. We seen his normal Dr this time, Dr Jill Bultje. She took one look at his neck and said "We are going to have to admit him to the hospital". I was shocked. I never thought those words would have come out of her mouth.
Wednesday 9/3 - So off to the hospital we went so they could put Jacob on an IV with Antibiotics. They also did an Ultrasound on the lump on his neck (which was very painful for Jacob, but, he was a trooper).
After the Ultrasound we waited for the Ear, Nose & Throat specialist to look at the ultrasound and examine Jacob to see what he though.
He said that we had to do surgery to drain the infection from the lymph gland and leave a drain tube in the wound to let it drain for a few days.
Wednesday 9/3 - Jacob went off to surgery at about 8:30 and we were able to see him about 9:15 in recovery. The whole day on Wednesday Jacob had about a 20 minute nap. So I did not expect him to wake up after surgery for a few hours.
Dan stayed over night with Jacob on Wednesday and Thursday night and I stayed with him on Friday night.
On Friday morning 9/5 - the ENT specialist came in to look at Jacob and he pulled the tube out a little further so it could drain more and he stated he wanted Jacob to stay one more night.
On Saturday 9/6 - The ENT came back and removed the drain tube and pushed out more infection but,he did tell us that we could go home.
We are home now and are very happy to be.
